The Garcinia Gummi-Gutta is a tropical species of Gardenias (the number of species is doubtful, with various sources recognizing between 50 and 300), native to Indonesia. Other relative names are: Garcinia Cambogia, as well as Brindleberry, Goraka, Kattcha Pulli and Malabar Tamarind. With thin peel and deep vertical lobes, the fruit of G. Gummi-gutta and related species, ranges approximately from the size of an orange to the size of a grapefruit. G. Gummi-Gutta looks more like a little yellowish, greenish or sometimes reddish pumpkin. Although a few high-quality researches have been carried out to determine the composition of this fruit, it’s phytochemical content includes hydroxycitric acid, which can be extracted and composed as a dietary supplement.
