Peppermint, Latin name mentha piperita is a rich aromatic plant and belongs to the family Labiatae or Lamiaceae. Peppermint is a cross between water mint and spearmint, it is still one of the major aromatherapy oils and is very stimulating, refreshing and energizing. In Greek mythology, Mentha, the current name of the genre, was a beautiful nymph that fell in love with Pluto, the god of the underworld. But when the jealous Persephone discovered her husband’s relationship with Mentha, to avenge her, she turned her on a small herbaceous plant so she could easily to everybody step on her. The plant happily managed to preserve its wonderful fragrance.
